This is another fractal I made as inspired by Apo Challenge 150, being held by :iconf--l--a--r--k: This one is with made with linear3D and the Bubble variations only, as per the rules of the Challenge. I didn't enter this one in the Challenge because I submitted a different picture for it, but I liked the way this came out so I uploaded this one, too. I hope you enjoy it.

Here's the one I did submit for Apo Challenge 150:

Here's the link to all of the entries: [link] for the Challenge. They are towards the bottom of the journal post.

Made in Apophysis 7X v15 (developed by :iconxyrus02:) and postwork in PhotoPlus X5.

Here is a possible entry into the current Challenge 6 being held by the :iconapo-weekly-challenge: group - Let's Get Spherical.  Here's the link to the journal about the Challenge:  apo-weekly-challenge.deviantar…

Here are the rules:

Challenge No 6 - Let's Get Spherical

This week's fractals should predominantly feature the spherical variation:
  • The spherical variation must appear on at least 2 transforms
  • Maximum number of transforms : 5
  • All variations are allowed

Satin Spiral

This is a spiral with several layers, so I guess it qualifies as a Fractal Manipulation rather than a Raw Fractal, but I've never been very clear on that.

Anyway, this is a spiral made from the wonderful tutorial at Firelily Fractals (Mary Thornton). It has several tutorials on the site, this was Tutorial #1. If you are just starting out with UF and want to learn some good techniques using a very clearly written tutorial, you might find this site useful. The other tutorials deal with Masking and some Tips and Solutions to common problems. I think I will find this information useful.

Made in UF5 and postwork done in GIMP.

This is another fractal made using the wonderful 3D Blooms tutorial by :iconlindelokse:

I did a little post manipulation to get the 3D effect on the raindrops, which are part of the original fractal.

This is the tutorial currently being worked on by the Apophysis Tutorial Fun group on RedBubble. And let me tell you, the gallery in ATF is just bursting with these beautiful blooms. Go check them out.

Made in Apophysis 7X v15 by dA's Xyrus02 and postwork done in PhotoPlus X4.

Apo Jellyfish

I was first attracted to Apophysis because of :icon1arcticfox:'s wonderful "Jellies" fractals. If you've never seen them, do yourself a favor and check them out. [link] They're amazing!

Anyway, I have been trying and tweaking on and off for several months. I can't come close to her stunning array of jellyfish, but here are some of the ones I've come up with. Some were done in Apo 2.08 and some were done in Apo 2.08 3D. Postwork (layers and warping to give a little bit of movement) done in GIMP.

I hope these aren't too pitiful. Any suggestions for improvement on these would be very much appreciated.

Fractal Orange Blossoms

This is a rather orange UF fractal made using the DooDads OCA. Would you believe this took 11 hours to render. I seem to having these incredibly long render times, and I think it's related to whenever I use a texture. Must be a lot of math going on with those textures. I had to stop this render 3-4 times so my computer could work on other things. But, eventually it finished. I hope you think it was worth the wait.

Made using UltraFractal 5 and postwork done in PhotoPlus X5.

Fractal Bird of Paradise

This is a fractal interpretation of the beautiful bird of paradise flower. It is a tweak of params from one of the flamepacks by *MothersHeart. Deb has some really beautiful stuff. If you're in the mood for tweaking, she has other flamepacks and gradients in her Resources folder in her Gallery. Thanks so much for sharing, Deb! I love this style.

Since I can't remember which flamepack it was, it's only fair to share these params.

These should work. I replaced the original params that were here with these because the other errored out. So, I recopied it and these seem to work all right. If anyone still has trouble with them, please let me know.

WTC - Sunken Treasure Collage

This is my submission for this week's #Apophysis WTC - Collage: Sunken Treasure. Does it look like an undersea treasure trove of ancient golden artifacts to you? I hope so.

This is a collage made up of 25 layers, most of which are individual Apophysis 2.08 3D fractals: algae, coral, pink pearl, jellyfish, bubbles, and the golden "artifacts". The only thing that is not a fractal is the gradient background. I like this theme because I think collages are fun. I love fractals, but I enjoy playing in Photoshop and GIMP as well. Combining all of them is a kick!! Some things work better in GIMP and some things work better in Photoshop, so I usually use both, as I did with this one. Wish me luck with the WTC.

Full view for detail and download is 1600x1200.

Update: I won the Apophysis WTC - Collage with my little undersea world. Yippee!! I'd like to thank all of you who voted for this. It started off my week on the right foot. :hug:s and :kiss:es! My fractals are about the only good thing going for me right now, so thank you for making life a little better.

Update 06-02-11 - I'm submitting this to a contest being held by :iconaparks45:. This is a link to her gallery: [link]

Here's another collage made up of individual Apo 2.08 3D Hack flames. The only things in here that aren't fractals are the sky and the moon. Both of those a photographs I took around our house in Natchez, with a "little" Photoshopping done to them. This one certainly isn't as colorful or a fairyland fantasy, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.

This was made using the wonderful 3D Blooms tutorial by :iconlindelokse:

I did a little post manipulation to get the textured effect on the blue petals.
