You can manipulate or animate your fractals if you want.
The main thing you must respect is that your work must be Christmas Related and created especially for this contest!
Now don't hesitate to be crazy and to make your memories shine !

This is the first Apo I've posted in awhile. This is a tweak of "Exploding Star":

without the central "star" that was postworked on it and in more colors.

This is a tweak of some fractal parameters that were published on the UF Mailing List Digest by Madelon Wilson and Lilo. Tweaks were invited, so I did! While playing with them I was listening to my favorite new singing group, The Tenors (formerly The Canadian Tenors). Incredible voices with so much power and emotion! Their new CD is called "Lead With Your Heart" and the title track is just wonderful. If you have never heard of The Tenors, give yourself a treat and check out this video of "Lead With Your Heart". I think you might enjoy it.

The chorus of the song goes:
If you lead, lead with your heart,
It’s the one thing you can trust, to always come from love
And it will shine, right through the dark

This is a fractal interpretation of the beautiful bird of paradise flower. It is a tweak of params from one of the flamepacks by *MothersHeart. Deb has some really beautiful stuff. If you're in the mood for tweaking, she has other flamepacks and gradients in her Resources folder in her Gallery. Thanks so much for sharing, Deb! I love this style.

Since I can't remember which flamepack it was, it's only fair to share these params.

This is a dodecahedron net with tabs and a different one of my Spiral Fractals in each cell. A dodecahderon is a 3D 12 sided geometric shape. This is what it looks like :


I downloaded the 3D "net" (blank template to put the images in each cell and print out) from a wonderful math site called Math-Salamanders.com [link] They have nets for a lot of different 3D shapes. I have downloaded about 10 different shape nets and I plan to have a lot of fun in the near future with these.

I made this one out of photo paper and it worked great!! I think the photo paper makes the colors pop more and it's a heavier stock so it holds up better than regular print or copy paper. Just print this out on heavy white paper or glossy photo paper. It will fit well on a 8.5" x 11"letter size paper. Then just cut it out around the outside leaving the blue "tabs" with the rest of the images. Then fold all the tabs at the junction with the image and then fold the whole thing using the demarcation between the fractal images as the fold line. Then you can use scotch tape to secure the tabs to the adjoining cell. When you get close to finishing the assembly, you might have to tape it on the outside. Use Scotch brand magic tape so it becomes semi-invisible. It makes a really pretty ornament or knick-knack. And it's a fun way to introduce math-geometry to children in a fun and colorful way. Not only is the shape a mathematical structure, each of the images on the shape is a fractal which is a mathematical image. It might help take some of the fear out of math for kids. I hope you enjoy this fun way to make colorful decorations and be educational all at the same time.
